Africa has many troubles and tribulations. Technology can solve most of them. Lack of skills and enabling government policies hinders innovation in technology in Africa. Technologies such as block chain can solve many issues but they are being implemented at a snail pace in Africa. Let us look at what block chain can do for African countries:

  1. Block chain technology can be used to document Africa’s unique history, culture, traditions, art, music, etc. Any African can be able to document his family history, family recipes and culture for the next generation. Thus Africa’s history will not be distorted. All the tribes will be able to conserve their culture, history, etc. Africa will never be short of stories to tell, anyone in the world can access these stories and learn more about different tribes straight from the tribes themselves. True stories will be true indeed. If a video application can be incorporated in the system, Africans can be able to capture great moments that the world can watch. Imagine watching a TV full of real stories from real people. Imagine learning about the culture, music, art, traditions of various African countries without any distortions and political agenda.
  2. Block chain technology can be used to help protect African traditional medicinal plants and medicinal solutions. Any family can register their medicinal formula on the database and protect it and also keep it for coming generation. Image how many medicinal formulas can be registered? Africa can be able use what it has, traditional medicine knowledge to cure various diseases and possibly, different countries collaborate to fight different diseases using what the locals trust and grew up using.
  3. Block chain can be used to document African cuisine and preserve the recipes for future generations.

There are a lot of possible block chain technology applications for Africa. But the big question is: Who is willing to transfer block chain skills to Africa?
