United we stand. Divided we fall. Computer sketch by Louise Peacock

Hey everybody, these are trying and frightening times, right?

However…

We, the Wordsmiths, have the power to spread goodwill, empowerment, hope, and helpful hints. Let us do that.

Let’s talk about what we can do to help the situation to the best of our individual capacity.

  1. Goodwill. We can look out for our relatives, friends and neighbours that are at high risk. Offer to do their shopping for them. Call them often. Email them often. Write notes often. Just keep an eye out for them.
  2. Empowerment. We can reassure those feeling fear and panic. Let them know that there are ways to deal with this and that they are not alone.
  3. Hope. We can write positive articles, stories and poems. We can relate stories that highlight postive actions being taken.
  4. Helpful hints. We can reiterate useful information such as frequent hand-washing, keeping a sensible distance between yourself and others, stay out of crowds — malls for example, limit your travel to minimal, plan shopping trips to once weekly if possible, avoid social intermingling.

We WILL get through this, as long as we all pull together.

Let’s do this.
