Meghan Markle is the New Clair Huxtable
Why diverse media portrayals of Black people is important
I love cooking, so I had to watch the new Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan.”
Markle, who is biracial, is married to Prince Harry.
We all remember the news of how the British royal family treated her because of her race. Potentially “spoiling” their precious royal bloodline.
Gross.
Prince Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, had already enraged the royal family with her interracial dating when she was with olive-skinned Egyptian Dodi Fayed, with whom she died in a car crash in 1997.
But instead of the royal family’s racism in the news this time, which Markle and her husband detailed in their docuseries in 2022, it’s just Markle sharing her love of cooking and entertaining us with good food.
I like her new show not only because of the delicious food, recipes, and interesting guests, but also for Markle’s down-to-earth, corny and relaxing style. She’s authentic.
