Stop Letting Age Determine Your Dreams
Very few people can focus their energy and determination on their goals and dreams without using age as a factor somewhere along the way. When you are young and map out what you think you may want to do in life, you say that you want to be this type of professional by 25, or you want to have this type of business by 30. We are all guilty of this and don’t realize that we are in some ways rushing the process and our development in whatever goals that we have set for ourselves. What I mean by this is that things will happen when they are supposed to. We can’t rush what we are destined to do.
Satchel Paige
If you aren’t familiar with the rich African American history within baseball, then you probably have never heard of the great Satchel Paige. Leroy Robert “Satchel” Paige to be exact, was an American Negro League Baseball and Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who is notable for his longevity in the game and for attracting record crowds wherever he pitched. Satchel was known as a showboat trash talker, but he was one of those guys who could back up his talk with his tremendous play.
Satchel started playing baseball at 12 years old while he was serving his 6-year sentence in an Alabama Reform School which was a result of shoplifting. He credits this period in his life as not being a waste, as he learned the game which triggered…
