Synthetic Fertilizers Kill Soil Life & Cause Nutrient-Deficiencies
When it comes to toxic farming chemicals, most people think of pesticides and herbicides.
But it turns out that synthetic fertilizers can do just as much harm to soil life.
Just like pesticides, synthetic fertilizers kill soil microorganisms, which makes it difficult or impossible for the soil microbiome to function properly.
In the process, synthetic fertilizers cause major economic, health, and environmental problems, including:
- They cause dependency on chemical fertilizer companies
- Water pollution and disruption of aquatic ecosystems like in the Gulf Dead Zone
- Harmful synthetic nitrites damage human vascular and respiratory systems
- Synthetic fertilizers release fumes that are toxic to human health
- Synthetic fertilizers deplete the soil of nutrients
The list goes on. But it doesn’t have to be this way…
Plants Don’t Need Fertilizer Anyways
To start with, plants don’t need fertilizer.
Most farmers would laugh at me for saying this.
