Brief Introduction

I just read “ On the Move “, the autobiography of Oliver Sacks, a writer, neurologist and exceptional human being. And after reading it, I was impelled to write these lines with the inspiration of his neuro-stories and the magnificent journey that illustrates his own life in an exercise of the most authentic honesty.

A good way to start reading this book is by taking a look at the pictures shown within it. You can find photos of Sacks surrounded by books in Oxford, of statisticians in Jerusalem, of truckers in Alabama. Sacks with his naked torso lifting weights in London, with a bow tie looking through a microscope in California, with a short mustache playing the piano in his little house in Topanga Canyon.

With an insatiable thirst for life and knowledge, he rolled up his white coat to attend to his neurological patients in the Bronx. And, above all, you can find photographs of Sacks writing…
