Two Steps to Guide You in Your Journey to Mastering a Skill
“….you ain’t gotta believe what I believe, but you gotta believe the results.”
The other night I was watching a sermon about finances on YouTube by Pastor Michael Todd. All of it was thought-provoking but there was one quote that stood out to me the most.
The lead-up to this quote was an example of how money follows mastery in a certain craft. To prove his point, Todd gives the example of how, as captives in Babylon, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who were followers of God, proved themselves to be more excellent in their crafts than others who were native to the land in which they were being held. In his excitement, Todd shouts,
“when they came in the room, you didn’t have to respect their God, but you had to respect their skill…I can’t wait ‘till the day believers are so good that you ain’t gotta believe what I believe, but you gotta believe the results.”

For most of the sermon, Todd emphasizes this idea of mastery and the need to be excellent at something. He tells the audience that it is never too late to pursue and master a new craft, which is a point that I could not agree with more.
