What You Should Know About Frustration

If there is one thing that I have noticed these days, it is the palpable frustration everyone is feeling about everything. From politics to the pandemic, people are exhausted and lost in a sea of frustrating circumstances and situations.

Like you, I have had my share of life’s frustrations. But a little over a decade ago, something happened to me, a thing I could not control, that helped me change my view and lower the bar on my levels of frustration. Before you click off, hear me out, please.

Life is not all good. Neither is it all bad. I hearken back to a book I was forced to read in high school — A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. And it starts like this:

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way…”

If you didn’t know any better, you would think this was penned just yesterday. Dickens wrote it in 1859 — more than 160 years ago. But he…
