What’s your meditation?

A few months ago I started experimenting with meditation (building the habit of meditating was one of my goals for 2017). The principle is simple, take 10 minutes a day to disconnect and relax.

I used HeadSpace to get started. It helped me to get into a daily routine. It worked, it cleared my head and rejuvenated me.

Around the same time as my mediation experiment, I started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Rodney King.

After a few sessions I realised that there were similarities between Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and meditation. Both require your full attention and deep breathing. Both left me a clear head and a relaxed mind and body.

Traditionally mediation is associated with sitting down closing your eyes and breathing deeply while you focus on your breathe and nothing else. But all of a sudden I was getting the same benefits from Jiu Jitsu.

That’s when it hit me.

Meditation comes in many forms, the trick is to find yours! It could be anything running, lifting weights or a martial art the choice is yours.

Make time in your day to focus entirely on an activity that cannot afford a distraction.

I can promise you that the benefits are amazing and that finding your meditation will change your life.
