Why All The Universities In The World Must Mandate This Requirement In Their Application Process

This requirement must be set up regardless of the candidate’s field of study

It was November of 2018. I was working on my application for the grad program. 7 Tabs on Google Chrome were opened — 3 of which belonged to the universities I was interested in; 2 of them were dedicated to the courses. On one of the tabs, Imagine Dragon’s “Believer” on YouTube was boosting my morale. And finally, on the last tab where I was on, I was reading all the comments made by some Redditors on r/GradSchool.

School applications can possess unique challenges. The nature of these challenges isn’t known before undertaking them, yet almost all of us pretend we know enough about them to procrastinate until our deadlines! One of the many challenges commonly faced is an essay where candidates are expected to express their career interests and justify them based on their backgrounds and experiences. The elements that go inside this essay are plentiful — Justification, Persuasion, Introduction, Research, Authentication, Actions, Promises, etc., all of that within word limits set by universities. Every draft you produce fills your mind with doubts about whether you are carved out for the program and for that university. The situation…
