The world’s foundation has been stripped down to the bare necessities.

What we used to spend our time on is simply no longer an option.

We’ve tried to fill our days with cleaning, new hobbies, and virtual connections. But is this really sustainable?

When will life return to normal?

With so much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, I think we have to be prepared for the fact that our lives may not return to normal for a long time.

According to Harvard researchers, the United States may need to endure social distancing measures to fight the coronavirus outbreak until 2022.

And if you take into account the interconnectedness between countries what does that mean for the rest of the world?

And even when the situation starts to calm down what will the world look like?

We’ve gained the ability to look at our lives objectively. What is essential remains and what’s unnecessary is now gone.

Our next move from here is critical…

Do we try to salvage the life we used to have?

Or do we seize the opportunity to build a better one? And according to what values do we move forward?

An increasing number of celebrities, scientists, and Nobel Prize winners have spoken up about the need to use this pandemic as an opportunity for growth, stating this is “a chance for humanity to examine what is essential.”

We see how nature has forced us into close confines with our immediate family, and as a result, we’ve noticed a few things.

Some families are thriving. Other families are realizing how difficult it is to get along with each other.

Regardless, today’s emphasis is on the family. And to the extent that we can coexist together in harmony, life will be good.

But what if we could extend to the larger family? Or even to our community?

What would our life look like if we understood that by investing in harmonious relations we would be better of?

I believe this can be the new normal.
