Thich Nhat Hanh is a Buddhist monk, born October 11, 1926, in Vietnam. He was ordained as a Buddhist monk at age 16. He led the way for the blossoming of Plum Village in France, which “has grown from a small rural farmstead to what is now the West’s largest and most active Buddhist monastery, with over 200 resident monastics and over 10,000 visitors every year.” He is a translator and historian of Buddhist text. Additionally, he is a renowned calligraphy artist.¹
I discovered Thich Nhat Hanh, when I read his Introduction to Zachiah Murray’s book Mindfulness in the Garden. It’s a very short illustrated book with gathas (an ancient poetic form).
