A Lesson From Nature About The Cost of Nurture
We’re all just trying to protect what we love.
Summertime is supposed to be a glorious season.
The weather is warm, we can finally sleep with our windows open again, and we get to wake softly each morning to the sound of birds chirping and a breeze blowing.
Who knew the sound of birds would be my new thorn this week?
The last few mornings I’ve been woken up by the incessant sound of a cooing pigeon. You know that sound, right? It’s not awful but this one never stops.
All day long.
I can’t see where the pigeon is but it’s out there. The cooing changes pitch or pauses occasionally, but it never stops. This made me realize it must be nesting on someone’s balcony nearby.
The constant drone of cooing is so near my open window that it’s driving me a little insane because I need to write in silence. The only way to drown out the pigeon would be to turn on the TV or music. So instead I have to listen to the coo.
What I wouldn’t give to be able to have that nest disposed of. Just for some friggin peace and quiet.
