All Along

A poem

I looked back for you,

But I had a feeling,

You wouldn’t pull through —

All along.

Your eyes spoke of thunder,

But I had a feeling,

You buckled under —

All along.

My hands touched your tremble,

But I had a feeling,

You would disassemble —

All along.

I cried for just one piece,

But I had a feeling,

You had to be released —

Into a long restful sleep.

All along.

Dedication

This poem is dedicated to Gayle Kurtzer-Meyers’s Jonathan who was lost to soon. ❤️
