Comparison Is Normal, But I’m Choosing Something Better

Beautiful people exist everywhere, but I notice them more when I travel to larger cities. The creativity people have to express themselves amazes me. I can’t help but compare myself, or take notes on how I might better my appearance.

Last weekend, we went to Boise, Idaho to celebrate my sister’s 18th birthday. It’s not an enormous city, but it’s certainly larger than the small town I live in of around 10,000 people. The food scene, especially, is far more vast.

My sister requested that for her birthday, we all dress in animal print as part of her “animal party” theme. So, that’s what we did — after surprising her with an Airbnb hung with streamers, balloons and a banner that read Let’s Get Wild.

Then, all matching in cheetah and leopard print, we moseyed our way through downtown, catching glances from all over.

My sister wore a tiara that said “Birthday Girl,” and was wished a happy birthday by several people. When riding scooters around, she even met someone briefly who shared her same birthday.

It was an easy-going, golden night. I loved getting to celebrate my sister this way and am truly so proud of the woman she is becoming.
