It took two angels in a dream
to see that fear is a misconception,
that the need to protect myself
was no longer needed as an adult

The spirits took me back to childhood,
a delicate boy with a psychotic mother
who thought he needed a wall
to insulate himself from her madness

But walls don’t work,
they never do,
keeps opportunities at bay,
stifles growth
and limits possibilities,
friendships and romance

These divine messengers inspired me,
showed how barriers disappear
if I trust those with good intentions;
how better I could breathe
with openness and love

The angel’s presence
shined a spiritual light,
a celestial cleansing,
releasing a needless belief,
embracing the courage to change.
