Well, it happened. Under the pressure of my growing circumference, the elastic waistband on my underwear officially rolled over like a snitch on a hot seat. I’ve discovered my expanding waistline serves as a finish line for acknowledging that my food-driven girth must be addressed. Don’t we all need a nudge toward introspection on occasion?
Since I refuse to buy bigger underwear, this siren call of painful indentations and ever-present agitation gets louder if I don’t take a pause. Perhaps talking about it here will urge me along the path to making better food choices. However, it could make me hungry for a tasty snack. Let’s see what happens.
All my sensible food plans went off the rails last summer as my life felt lacking in freedom and emo-nourishment. It was a difficult year on many fronts, which produced feelings including, but not limited to: dread, defeat, uncertainty, fear, disgust, dissolution, sadness, anxiety, depression. It was a lot. And although lessened a bit, it continues.
But, I can write about it now, which shows me I’m coming through it rather than being stuck. So let’s go.
