My body ached for sleep. I turned in early, sunk my head in the pillows, and pulled the down comforter over my head. Ideal conditions.

In defiance, my brain ignited. “How do people make QR codes?”

Stop it. Don’t be ridiculous. You are not a tech-savvy person at 60 and never were. Do you have to have one?

Fluffing my pillows did nothing — the spinning wheels seemed to gain speed.

Tiptoeing into my office, I braced for failure. Go back to bed. My heart raced as I confronted the impossible. I poked around for 15 minutes out of burning curiosity. Within moments, I successfully created a QR code.

It’s all about diving in and getting dirty. No fear allowed.

I floated back to bed, high on my mind-blowing accomplishment. Only true overthinkers recognize how I second-guess my second-guesses. I had teetered precariously close to discounting my abilities. (Yes, programmers, I know how easy it is now! No need to rain on my parade.)
