Lately, I have been faced with some “glass ceiling” kind of stuff, the kind of thing I thought was long gone. But then here it is, standing guard at the threshold of opportunity for me at work.

The issue is that I have the experience and the credentials to step into this new position with the authority it brings. There just seem to be some that are unhappy about it.

Those trying to prevent me from this promotion — since they are unable to find fault in my resume — have initiated a slanderous whisper campaign. They quietly badmouth me rather than evaluate my skills. They seemingly try to make things difficult enough that it would be easier to pass me over.

What they’re doing reminds me of the baseless finger-pointing of a witch hunt. While the severity of the consequences might be much lessened, the tactics are the same.

And I feel like I have had about enough.

An ye harm none, do what ye will.

This is the Wiccan Rede, the most basic statement of ethics for practicing witches. It basically says that you can do what you want so long as you do not harm anyone in doing it.
