It’s finally here — Thanksgiving 2020 and another Engaged Writers story! We are highlighting amazing stories written by incredible people.

I wanted to switch it up a little and take a different approach — a fun one.

Here’s a short story about a turkey. This is dedicated to the writers who are mentioned below — without each of you, this story would not be possible. Thank you!

I grew up on a farm, Surrounded by Quietness. There was a boy with curly hair who took good care of me. He was the only friend I ever had. Whenever I saw him, I would be Stomping for Joy!

When he filled my feeder, I hopped in circles around him until he sat on the floor and held his hands out. He smiled and then nodded his head; I jumped into his lap and clucked with joy. He always asked, “Oh why can’t you just eat from the feeder?” I could’ve, I suppose, but I liked being fed love and the look in his eyes said he enjoyed giving me love.

Everything was great and the same, day after day, until A Little Green Man showed up and started to investigate our belongings. I wasn’t too happy about him being intrusive, but I was scared, so I hid behind the hay. I saw my friend running away as fast as he could. He left me and my ruffled…
