My Husband’s Retiring — So I Wrote Him a Contract
Because my husband needs instructions
The time has come that I never asked for: my husband is talking about retiring.
I’m sure many wives look forward to the day their husbands finally decide to prioritise the life and balance part of their work, however, I’m gearing up for the greatest challenge of my life to date.
You see, my husband has been having an affair.
I’ve always known about his other love; I accept it and have resigned myself to living knowing his affections are constantly torn between me and his other lifelong love.
Make no mistake, he makes time for me, and I know my position sits relatively high on the food chain in his eyes. He can’t help that he has to live two lives, with two loves that equally need his attention and affections.
I empathise with him; I really do.
It must be so difficult to lay in bed with me at night, knowing he has to wake up at the crack of dawn to make sure he is present with his other love early in the morning. Often on weekends, he is forced to sacrifice his time with his other love due to commitments I have thoughtlessly made that require him to be around.
