Cleanse, tone, and moisturize for life
“Here, honey, I saved these for you,” my mom said as she handed me a stuffed Lancome cosmetic bag.
“Thanks!” I beamed.
I never turned away the freebies.
As my mother’s daughter, I frequently got swag.
As far back as junior high, I remember my mom buying and giving me weird gifts. When I was 11, I was given a lesson on the Clinique 3-part kit.
“You need to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face twice a day,” she instructed. That seemed a bit extreme to a 7th grader.
“Here, use these,” she instructed as she handed me two tiny bottles: Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 (Toner) and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

She proceeded with her facial tutorial.
“Always rub in an upward motion and never go to bed with your makeup on. That’s gross. No matter what, wash your face before you go to bed.” Because my mother was gorgeous and had amazing skin, I took this to heart and precisely followed my mother’s orders.
