The Dancing Trees

An African-American poem.

Slowly it moves

Left and right

Then faster

And faster

The rhythm of the wind

The songs of the sky Lark

And the summer of may

Brings with it love and joy

For it is another season

For it is another day

To rejoice and dance

Again, with the dancing trees

Slowly it moves

Left and right

To the melodious songs

Of the skylark

Who will dance with me?

Who will sing my song?

This and many more

Ask the dancing trees

Slowly it moves

Left and right

To the rhythm of the

melodious sounds of the wind

For it is another month

For it is another season

To dance again

With the Dancing trees of May.
