The Purpose of These Pages
Relevance is our Objective. These pages can be our wellspring for getting important work done.
Act III: Age of Relevance is a platform to connect Baby Boomers to opportunities and responsibilities; to tools and resources and common cause. It is a movement to encourage people in their later years to stay physically and mentally fit and to implement a new plan for making critical contributions to society. It is a call to action, a battle cry, to build newly rewarding and relevant lives.
We need clarity on our society’s current challenges and what’s needed, clear connections to resources.
We need insights on maintaining health and acuity. We need energy, ambition and will — to make this the most fulfilling and important Act of our lives. We will work to make these pages meet those needs.
Why — The Situation
It is clearly time to throw out the notion that our “retirement” years, life’s Act III, are for only relaxation, recreation and reflection, with occasional social contribution. We have responsibilities here.
As we enter our Act III our country is not doing well. The events of 2020 have torn the cover off deep-seated American problems. Today’s sweeping challenges are our opportunity to step up. Our energy and commitment are needed here in our society now, and for some time to come.
People in their late 60’s, 70’s, and even their 80’s, have the skills, experience and wisdom to be productive — and relevant. More, many of us cannot afford to go 20–30 years without income — nor can our society afford to carry us that long.
The Opportunity
At Age of Relevance we see new opportunity to deliver excellence beyond “retirement”. Not just to participate, but to drive important, necessary achievements. To hit the reset button, to refresh and reload and head out ready to begin anew. To bring our skills to fields we know and fields where we can make a difference. With our mass and commitment — and with health — Baby Boomers can help revitalize America. Focused not only on what we want to do — but on what is needed.
We will be known for what we do last. — Langston
