Agency = Education + Entertainment + Enterprise by Community:

  • Agency is a web3 creative community open to all disciplines. It exists with the sole purpose of supporting creators to deliver on their creations as powerfully as possible.
  • Agency already is behind several content streams that can be leveraged for fun and profit to fund the DAO and its creators. Let us create some more!
  • The process will be guided by a set of agreed principles that can later be changed, amended and grown.
  • We will be supported by “The Agency Methodology” — practical educational content on the creative process, complete with exercises. Following through on them via the DAO will earn you Reputation and Currency.
  • To progress, all you have to do is create. As you contribute, you gain influence and control of where the whole process is going.

Initial Principles

Earn and Learn

Initially, you earn as you interact with the Agency Methodology and later as you create more content. As you develop you will be rewarded in Fest Tokens that generate access to positions of higher responsibility and autonomy as the system matures.

The Enterprise Is You

Agency is about increasing your agency. That’s it. It’s ok to be self interested, to talk about your fears, and to talk about your dreams (actually that’s your first assignment!).

Personal Ambitions Connected For Collective Victories

As we learn about each other’s personal ambitions, talents, and obsessions we will be able to design a system that gains from feeding them. You are allowed to focus on you and look out for #1 ;)

The Agency Methodology:

Agency will drive you to overcome your current limitations through actions of all kinds. It’s a “step by step” program but it actually works best if corrupted, bent, misinterpreted, and exploited for personal pleasure! In its practical side it will teach how to mitigate creative risks, how to create accountability systems with yourself, and many other little mind and life tricks that should quickly add up to increased output and general badassery.

At the same time, Agency is just an excuse to catalyse something special and get people working together. The method provides a common language to approach the creative process, and proposes avenues of practice that clear away the perceived subjectivity of creative endeavours. It’s all based on actions offered to the collective that can connect and compose. This will lead us into results that challenge our notions of individual authorship.

What will Agency do?

As with any other DAO — the right answer should always be “who knows?!1!” BUT for now, what’s important is collecting your dreams and structuring the cultural build of a decentralised creative agency.

A place where people can come to get inspired and find the support they need to take their projects out of the drawer and blossom into actually useful stuff that adds value. And then, take it to the next freaking level by working on it together with the other Agents.

Building on the FestDAO and Fest Economy

Where did Agency come from?

The methodology we will experiment with has been in development for most of the last 10 years. First as a painting class called “Visual Quest”, then made ‘creativity general’ as Transition (an experiment that ran from fall 2018 till spring 2019), and now receiving an ever more universal reboot as Agency.

At the same time — this WAS created by the FestDAO over innumerable calls, meetings, and in-real-life encounters that contributed to the design since before the DAO itself hit the main net. To reward these contributions we aim to keep building the Fest Economy and use the Fest Token as the Agency Community Token.

In effect, the Agency Community is the expansion, evolution, and next step of the FestDAO community.

What about DAOfests?

DAOfests are still around — digitally — and so can be other types of events. If we build Agency together, once normality resumes, we will have many pieces in place to do more and more DAOfests. Yes, you can and should use Agency to create DAOfests or other event seals — the know-how has not been lost ;)

Business model:

Events, Content, Code — It all fits the framework.

The DAO will be able to leverage its collective creations to attract work for hire, grants, selling advertising space on products, and eventually income from media channels themselves and subscriptions. You can see the original proposal for Agency here. It contains a more detailed outline of the possibilities.

The current outlook aims to be the staple for Lifestyle / Culture / Editorial / Opinion / Memes content for the Web3 with overlap with parallel industries, attracting new talent to a rewarding web3 experience. But this is a proposed initial state — the DAO remains in charge.

Governance:

A similar structure of Reputation + Standardised Payouts + DAO tokens scheme will be deployed, not too different from the one that has been successfully used for DAOfests.

However, the goal is to create a fundamentally novel way to leverage collective intelligence and individual talent to maximise the creation of successful content and topics by multiplying across several streams.

Each one of us develops their personal talents, without having to agree on everything but at the same time contributing to each other’s work, either hands on or via feedback and supplying motivation.

By having a shared framework and catalysis, ideas will collide and there will be fireworks.

Creator Progression:

Creators (or Dreamers): Are all the members of the DAO who have donated a dream to it by completing Episode 000’s assignment. In a way, dreams are the fuel of Agency.

The assignment is a self perception exercise that culminates in recording a video selfie with a vision. That’s it. Once accepted by the DAO, your vision is part of the network of life stories, goals, and desires that energises the co-creation.

Agents (Curators, Retainers and Catalysts): Dreamers will specialize into specific functions according to their own volitions. More information on these function will be provided later down the line. But first, to the task at hand: Dream hunting (for without them we’ll perish). Agents are any of the dreamers who have chosen to take on a responsibility needed by the DAO.

How to join the DAO:

Listen to episode 000 to find out how to offer a Dream. Episodes will take between 15 to 20 min to listen and the creative practice that follows will always be designed to last less than one hour and ideally 30m. They act as introductions to specific skillsets and generate reflections that should be shared by the dreamers. They will often contain a component that needs to be posted to the DAO to claim a reward, so in a way, each episode of the Agency Methodology can be seen as a creative bounty to be fulfilled via the FestDAO.
