Our Vedran Mušura participated in the “Traversa Medvednica”, a 50-kilometer trail running event with more than 1750 meters of ascent held on Zagreb’s Medvednica mountain and in the Medvednica nature park.

This trail running race is a unique event in Croatia as it does not have a designated course but rather just designated checkpoints along the Medvednica nature park stretching for approximately 50 kilometers along the Medvednica nature park.

Since there is no formal organization of the race the competitors are self-supported and free to find the way they think is the fastest from Podsused on the western edge of Zagreb city to reach the finish in Sveti Ivan Zelina on the far eastern part of the Zagreb County. Vedran was able to finish this event in 7 hours and 21 minutes, 2 hours and 32 minutes behind the winning time.

“It’s a great race and a great, albeit somewhat unusual, way to meet the Medvednica nature park in all it’s glory. 50 kilometers races are tricky because you need to take in calories and stay hydrated all the time while trying to navigate and not lose your way in the forests of Medvednica. I will return next year definitely and try to go under seven hours.
