AgendaKids creates a communication platform for parents and schools.

This Start-up from Fortaleza has developed an application to help parents keep up with their children’s school routine. Agenda Kids is a multiplatform that integrates Parents, Kids and Schools. It streamlines communication between parents and school secretaries and supervisors, helping organize students’ school life and optimising school management processes.

Female participation in the labour market is on the rise, and this has increased the demand for full time schools. It has also made it difficult for mothers to keep up with their children’s education. As a result, responsibility has been shifted and schools are overwhelmed. Because of work, parents usually check their children’s school diary in the evening, after working hours. This accelerated routine will often cause families to forget to check their kids’ school diary, and this is harmful for their educational development. Carlos Alan, one of the founders of the start-up, has been a programmer for 14 years. He says he came up with the idea after he forgot to get his 2-year-old daughter Alana a costume so she could attend the school’s Carnival fancy dress party. Feeling guilty after episodes such as that one, with time he realised other parents had the same problems. The idea transformed into AgendaKids during the Fortaleza Start-up Weekend, where he met future lawyer Anderson Morais, administrator Fernanda Catunda and designer Pietro Occiuzzi. The project was one of the winners of the start-up competition and shortly after the event they were chosen to take part in start-up acceleration program 85 labs, the first start-up accelerator in Ceará State, North-eastern Brazil.

The platform’s development focuses on optimising the school’s workflow, especially that of pedagogical coordinators and teachers. Pietro Occiuzzi, the designer in charge of the platform’s interface:

The greatest challenge is to create a simple and intuitive interface that is practical enough for educators to go through their daily routine much faster, reducing costs with paper and organising the communication between school departments and parents.

The platform has several functions that include notices and a daily summary of activities. Agenda Kids works as a link that connects parents, children and schools in a way that is efficient, practical and safe. The application is available for Android and IOS smart phones and desktop computers of institutions that sign up for the system.

Agenda Kids offers flexible plans and special terms in the first three months after the product launch.

Large schools are already signing up for Agenda Kids. We want all parents to be able to use it, so we created special plans for small day-care centres and small local schools

Says Anderson. Parents can log onto www.agendakidsdigital.com and register their children’s school. The AgendaKids team will then contact the school.
