As we have entered the new year, it’s time to set goals and embrace digital marketing so you can optimize your workflow and increase productivity.

Whether you are an agent, a broker, or part of a team, there are several ways to build (and grow) your real estate business.

1. Spend more time on social media.

Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn offer a tremendous amount of upside when investing time online. Not only do you have a chance to connect with buyers and sellers, but you can also showcase your style and build a personal brand. Besides, social media is frothy in volume, and you can quickly get in front of hundreds or thousands of people with the right content.

2. Become the local area expert.

Given the number of real estate agents in your area, a unique value proposition will certainly help set you apart from others. In other words, you need to demonstrate why you should be the agent of choice. Become an area expert and publish local guides such as property listings, restaurant reviews, shopping, outdoor activities, and neighborhood info.

3. Be intentional with your digital efforts.

It’s no secret that the future of real estate marketing is digital, which means it’s time to step up and leverage the tools at hand. The best way to do this is to create a digital presence that is sophisticated, intoxicating, and unforgettable. Creating a place you call home on the Internet is a lot easier than it looks. In just a few minutes, and with just a few clicks, you can be up and running in no time. After all, you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.

4. Cultivate your real estate community.

There is an adage that states, “A rising tide lifts all boats.” When it comes to real estate, this can certainly be true. Online communities such as ActiveRain offer a multitude of ways to connect with other agents. They are a great place to ask questions, get feedback, or share experiences with your business. Additionally, build into your team — whether it be a brokerage or your team made up of you, a lender, a home inspector, and office support.

5. Produce content and be a source of knowledge.

Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, once said, “Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet.” A great way to capture leads, procure new business, and sell more homes is to have a real estate website. Here you can share your ideas on a blog, write helpful articles and evergreen pages, and embed multimedia such as Facebook Lives, Instagram photos, and virtual tours. Remember, when it comes to digital marketing, be a content producer.

It’s safe to say that 2020 was a challenging year for everyone. Your real estate business needs you more than ever, so hit the ground running in the new year by investing in a strategy that works.

Here’s a simple piece of advice I have learned over the last fifteen years: Make it as easy as possible for people to do business with you.
