They woke the next morning to a knock at the door. Outside was a gold and glass cocktail trolley, straight from the 1970’s. Under the cloth covering it was a light breakfast. Honey, granola, yoghurt and a selection of berries and fruit.

They ate, they showered, they chatted. So many years, gone in the blink of an eye, to catch up on. For two hours they sat together and talked. Not once did either mention their past life together. Only covering those missing years.

The conclusion, a cliché, was that life’s too short. They decided, in those two hours, to live a life worth remembering. Fuck regrets, fuck what the world expected. Who were they to discard a second chance?

It’s not often Fate acknowledges her errors but when she does you should sit up and pay attention.

“Well,” said April, “We’ve a day left here. Are you up for some more adventures?”

“This is your secret trip. I must let you have your fun. You enjoy yourself and I’ll be here waiting for you. We can have the rest of our lives to make our new adventures.”
