I’m Sick of Politics!

I’m sick of politics. But I can’t escape! It’s everywhere. Does everything in America have to be political? It’s exhausting!

Not that long ago, I could get away from politics when I wanted. I could spend a day or an evening at the movies or watching football on my plasma TV. But it’s difficult today. Everything seems so political.

My Facebook news-feed juxtaposes posts from friends who are hard-core liberals and diehard conservatives. And this continues to go on three months after the elections!

But There’s Something Worse

One after another, some of my treasured pastimes have become something other than entertainment — another forum for political discourse and a reminder of the dark times we live in.

Hollywood — Tuesday matinees was the one day my wife and I would get out to escape the realities of this world. Nothing better than a good flick. But one by one, the Hollywood stars publicly inserted themselves into politics. Ugh! Why do these actors and actresses feel compelled to take stands on issues that have nothing to do with their films. Just entertain me please. Your foray into politics is changing my perception of you and the movies you star in. And besides I could care less about your political views!

Authors — A large number of successful authors just don’t seem to be content with fame and fortune. No! They now crave influence in the political arena. So when they choose to share their political views with me — the reader — I say bye bye.

Target — Why do retailers get into politics? It’s crazy. I mean to step in and take a stand against at least 50% of your customer base by issuing a policy that anyone — man, woman, pervert, pedophile — can use the bathroom of his choice is insane! (Something else — sorry but this is political. How does a large segment of culture claim they believe science when they deny the science of what makes a male and what makes a female)

Football — I thought, “…well at least I still have football.” And then along came Colin Kaepernick. I guess he (thought) he had an epiphany that he could change the world by sitting out the National Anthem. OMG! I say PLAY BALL

Politics is ugly, religion is struggling, technology is stressful, and the economy is unfortunate. It truly is a new world! So what’s one thing in our lives that we can depend on? A dog, a cat or a grandchild loving us unconditionally and faithfully every day. That’s the best and it hasn’t changed
