A quick start guide to Agile Project Management

In this blog article, I describe what Agile project management is, the role of the Agile project manager, and what the Agile project lifecycle is.

Agile project management is a way of managing digital projects. In the case of “Agile”, I mean:

“… the iterative approach for digital development. Agile helps digital development teams to deliver value to stakeholders faster than traditional methods because results are delivered in smaller increments of time (known as Sprints or iterations) that work in a continuous flow.”

For me, Agility stands out as a transformative approach, which, I believe has revolutionized how projects are delivered.

Agile project management is a mindset that embraces change, values collaboration, and seeks to deliver value to stakeholders rapidly and efficiently.

In this context, I believe rapid cycles are things like feedback loops and Sprints in Scrum.

Understanding Agile Project Management

Agile project management is about breaking down large, complex projects into smaller, manageable parts, known as iterations or sprints. All designed to deal with the ambiguity, one small chunk at a time.

These sprints are short, time-boxed periods where a team works to complete a set number of features.

The Agile Project Management approach allows for frequent checking, reassessment and adaptation. This is perfect for projects where ambiguity, and requirements can or are likely to change and evolve.
