Daily Agile Coaching

My experiences as an aspiring Agile Coach — Day 2

So I've been on a mission to gather more experiences as an Agile Coach. This can be a tall order if the organization does not yet recognize the role. So one has to create the opportunities by being awake, observant and somewhat vigorously push through new ideas.

One of our teams has been experiences difficulties in coping with new ways of working and I suggested to a manager that I could act as an Agile Coach to help mend these challenges. It’s part of my strategy to actively try to show situations where Agile Coach could be beneficial. I explained to the manager that sometimes it can help to bring outside help to shed light into to the situation. He was not yet fully convinced but no matter, this as my Agile Change Strategy in general is a long term strategy. You can’t, after all, change an organization in a day in such a complex environment.

It’s a learning, growing process and opportunity for myself as well. It’s interesting to see first hand, what the dynamics of conversations such as these are. You can’t force people to adopt change but at the same time there has to be some degree of urgency in my opinion. The situation being that we’re a young Agile Organization and still very much in the process of going through the change.

So after a long discussion about Agile Contracts, the process, ways of working and benefits of Agile Coaching I ended up getting an opportunity to introduce the Squad Health Check to one of our Teams (the one with the challenges).
