The way you behave is critical especially when you are a team player. And the agile methodology is all about teams working effectively together to achieve great results. Some teams fail miserably and others thrive. What’s the secret?

The agile methodology has a bright future lying ahead. Agile leaders who realise that want to make sure they are doing everything they can to instill the agile way of thinking to their team members. Understanding what the agile methodology is not will help you see what it really is and how to use it to your team’s benefit.

The agile methodology is not another project management process. It is a mindset. Which means that every individual has to live by certain principles and cultivate a set of behaviours. Like the mindset, the behaviours should also be shared inside a team in order for all members to aim towards the same goal.

Does your team share those 6 agile behaviours?

  1. Being Able to Collaborate

All members should work closely together to effectively create an end product. Sometimes the team will have to host workshops with the client. Thus, being able to collaborate is a must!

2. Being Able to Work in an Incremental Manner

It is important to take small steps, receive feedback and gradually proceed towards the end result. Perfectionists will never be effective in an agile environment unless they can live with a good enough result for the time being.

3. Being Flexible

Not all ideas work out to be great. Being able to leave them behind and adjust is a must when working with an agile mindset. Sometimes there is also the need to take on work from another team member in order to make the deadline. Thus, adaptability is a rather critical behaviour!

4. Asking for Help

This is what teams are made for. Instead of wasting precious time and energy when something is not clear enough or does not make sense it is better to get it out of the way soon enough.

Finally, the above is only a selection of behaviours that an agile team should share. What other behaviours have you found out to be effective within an agile team? Share them with us!
