Release Train Engineer — A new role or a label

A good article that clearly articulates what many RTEs do on the ground.

Given that all leaders and managers are “expected” to exhibit servant leadership and other agile leadership traits, what is the real difference between an RTE and the erstwhile Program Manager?

Isn’t this a repeat of the story that plays at team level with Scrum Master/Project Manager. Now it is playing out at the program level with RTE/Program Manager?

P.S To really appreciate the difference — compare between an Program Manager who believes in Agile and is an Agile thinker/doer rather than a traditional mindset waterfall thinking program manager. Without this nuance its just a generic comparison between agile mindset and traditional mindset not really the old roles and new roles.
