Product managers, just like any other leader, need the ability to inspire and guide their team members toward a common goal. However, their leadership style is unique in that they often do not have direct authority over the individuals they lead. This means that product managers must rely on building relationships and trust with their team members in order to motivate and encourage them to work.

The key to leading without authority is to create an environment of collaboration and cooperation. This requires a deep understanding of what motivates each team member, and a commitment to supporting their growth and development. By providing opportunities for growth and helping team members achieve their goals, product managers can earn their trust and loyalty, which ultimately leads to greater success for the entire team and the product.

The purest form of leadership is when team members willingly choose to follow their leader not because they have to, but because they want to. This level of commitment can only be achieved through building strong relationships and demonstrating a genuine interest in the success and well-being of each team member.

In essence, product managers must embody the qualities of a true leader by inspiring and motivating their team members to achieve success, even when they do not have direct authority over them. By building trust and providing support, they can create a culture of collaboration and cooperation that leads to greater success for the entire team.
