Product management is challenging as much as it is rewarding. Product Managers these days have so many learning resources and jobs at their disposal that they should really feel blessed to be living in such an era of online information. Managing and delivering a product involves three basic steps.

  1. Finding a product,
  2. Planning on its development, and
  3. Creating the product in the end.

These are considered to be the three pillars of product management. After this, a product is introduced into the market. A product can only become successful if it is given proper exposure.

And what better way to provide proper exposure than by product adoption?

Digital transformation has introduced many different aspects of technology and product adoption is one of them. Product adoption is a process that is used by many companies and organizations. It makes people learn about a product or an application in a way that they start using the product to cater to their needs. Product adoption helps you to have a better understanding of a product and provides a way by which an organization can also track, measure, and analyze the user behavior within the product.

Stages of Product Adoption

In recent times of digital transformation, product adoption is important for a company or an organization. It helps in converting potential clients into regular customers. This accelerates the process of user onboarding. Not only, it plays a huge part in revenue generation, but product adoption is also important for increasing the lifetime value of the customers.

Nowadays, there are many tools available in the market that are used to measure product adoption. Some of the digital adoption platforms used for analyzing product adoption include HockeyStack, Pendo, WalkMe, Whatfix, and Apty. Apart from this, there are thousands of other tools that also help in the measurement of the product adoption process.

But let’s get to know about Pendo and WalkMe and understand which is the superior one.

Pendo

Pendo is a product-analytics application. It helps companies and organizations to develop products that benefit the customers. Pendo helps the development team to “drive product adoption, customer loyalty, and team innovation”.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Expensive tool
  • The UI is not clean and fast
  • High learning curve.

Here is a detailed comparison of Pendo and WalkMe based on the specific features.

Pricing

Pricing for both the digital adoption platform tool is different. WalkMe provides both basic and custom plan for the users. The annual contracts in WalkMe can go up to $10000 or even more than that. Some users experienced pricing of Pendo around $9000 per month. As compared to WalkMe, which provides 2 plans, Pendo provides the users with 4 plans. They include Free, Team, Pro, and Enterprise. The prices of the plans are not given to the public. But there have been some reports by the users that have mentioned the prices to be $2000 in approximation. When a user adds up the features, the prices can go as high as $15000-$20000. The pricing of both tools is same and the packages in both the digital adoption platform tool have quantitative limits.

Features

The digital transformation of technology has introduced many different but significant features in both tools. The main features of Pendo while going through a walk through include Paths, Funnels, Reports, and Retention. The Paths feature shows all types of sequences that are seen for the events that are before or after a specific user action. Funnels allow the users to monitor the progress through a sequence of pre-specified steps. Reports feature in Pendo is divided into Page Views, Feature Clicks, Track Events, and Guide Views. The Retention feature shows the number of customers that are retained by the company. WalkMe contains many exceptional features like Digital Analytics Experience, Custom Variables, Adaptive Element Recognition, Screenshot Settings, etc. The Digital Analytics Experience when undergoing walk through allows the customers to track the End user’s interaction whereas Screenshot settings allow the customers to capture screenshots of the application that includes the WalkMe content. WalkMe focuses more on employee training and user onboarding whereas Pendo puts more focus on product experience. Both the software's have excellent different features.

Customer Service

By conducting numerous surveys and research, it can be seen that Pendo provides better customer service as compared to WalkMe. WalkMe is known for its challenging customer experience. Customer support is provided on the phone, online, knowledge base and video tutorials by both Pendo and WalkMe.

Segmentation

Though Pendo has better features when it comes to user segmentation; WalkMe also offers opportunities similar in this regard when going by a walk through.

Conclusion

Digital transformation is constant in this generation and is always a big supportive hand to the platforms like Pendo and WalkMe. Though the experiences of the users differ, some of the basic featural aspects remain the same. It is seen by many users that WalkMe is very powerful, but very technical to implement (in building guides). As for their segmentation, WalkMe is often based on, on-screen elements or jQuery elements which adds a huge level of complexity that can become more trial and error. When it comes to Analytics, WalkMe is more geared towards the walk through and guide analytics. On the other hand, Pendo has great segmentation abilities, great connectivity, and good reporting abilities.

Summary

The article talks about the two popular tools for product analysis, Pendo, and WalkMe. Pendo is a product-analytics application. It helps companies and organizations to develop products that benefit the customers, whereas WalkMe is a multinational SaaS company that is responsible for providing the product managers and product owners with software and other feature tools that are both web-based and mobile-based applications.
