A day at Agilent India..

An exciting day at Agilent starts with a pick and drop from state of the art cab facilities being provided by the company. Employees have flexible working hours and can always arrive a little later and leave a little later from the office. Forty hour weeks with flexible work timing ensures “Work Life Balance” that is core to employee productivity at Agilent.

Agilent India Manesar campus is a new state-of-the-art campus, about 18 miles from Gurgaon. Agilent has invested approximately $40 million in the new facility.

The new site can house 1,200-person workforce in India, with a total seating

capacity of 1,800. (The rest of Agilent’s employees work at the company’s seven other sites in India.) The Manesar site supports Agilent’s back-office operations, including corporate controller-ship, IT and business centers, field entities, field operations, Engineering Information Services and R&D.

In line with Agilent’s focus on “green” technology, the facility is built with special energy-saving features. The campus design saves the company 50 percent on power costs by harnessing daylight and running air-conditioning units through floors instead of ceilings. The facility also has a massive rainwater-harvesting system with a capacity of 5 million liters (1.3 million gallons), equivalent to 90 days’ demand.

Inside the office at my work area, colleagues are not just colleagues at Agilent, we make friends of a lifetime here while working with the One Agilent approach.

Trust and teamwork is part of our life, every employee of Engineering Information Services or any other team pledge to live by Agilent values.

The day starts with some serious stuff, checking emails for work queues and customer queries. Sitting arrangement is ergonomically designed to ensure no fatigue or ergonomic issues.

It’s breakfast time now. Lets go to the canteen and have some sumptuous breakfast to give a delicious start to the day. The grab and go shop and cafe ensures getting our food cravings relived anytime.

Huddle is a part of workday where team comes together and discuss all the top priority work, ongoing issues, routine management communication happens here to facilitate transparency in system and keeping employees aware about all ongoing updates.

There is nothing more relaxing then having a Coffee with friends at breakout area at each wing. Wide verity of drinks available here confuses me which one to grab first.

Big Ideas not always generate in meeting room….

Independence day is always more cheerful with lots of activities like bay decoration, kit flying and tri-color food.

At Agilent, Job = Work+Continuous Process Improvement. A LEAN Event is in progress under umbrella of Agilent LIFE Academy at Galaxy conference room. Supervisors are always focused on developing their employees for future. Learning and Development is key priority for HR always and is mentioned as Key development opportunities under everyone’s MBO. This year so-far 802 LIFE Lerner has completed 5454 learning hours and its still on-going.

Another team of some enthusiastic sportsmen and physique geeks are are hitting state of the art gymnasium and sports lawn. Playing Badminton, volleyball, TT, Squash and basket ball with friends is always fun.

Around 4.30 PM its wrap-up time for the day, lets complete the work and planning for next day.

Cabs are waiting at employee reception…see-off for the day.
