How Alcohol Holds You Back from Fitness Goals

It may be why you’re struggling

I used to drink a lot of beer. My Friday nights were 6–8 or more beers. That’s far too much for a young person, let alone someone who’s in thier 50s. I always dreame dof getting into shape while sucking back booze.

It’s not a good recipe for success.

I would drink, have some wings or something, and then go home. Through the rest of the week, I would usually eat quite well. When I became concerned about my weight, I noticed that it was extremely difficult to lose any weight at all.

I couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

Am I eating too much? Not enough protein? What?

Weight Loss and Alcohol

Turns out it was the alcohol sabotaging any progress I made during the week. Depending upon the beer, it was anywhere from 600–1800 or so extra calories from the beer alone.

The next day, my body would recover from the alcohol, and this would carry into the next couple of days. I couldn’t make any progress because I was drinking.
