Moderated by 500 Startups partner Edith Yeung, Zhao will discuss the growth of RTC and how it’s changing the way people and businesses communicate.

Agora.io (www.agora.io), a global real-time communications platform that powers voice, video and live broadcasting for web and mobile applications, today announced that its founder and CEO Tony Zhao will speak at South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas. Moderated by Edith Yeung, head of 500 Startups Greater China and 500 Startups Mobile Collective, Tony will discuss the intricacies of the burgeoning RTC industry to help developers better understand and navigate different forms of cloud communication technologies.

In the upcoming session, Tony will dissect the differences between native and WebRTC, separating hype from reality, and explore the transformative features of embedded RTC, which has been proven to boost interactivity and engagement among users and customers.

Tony brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Internet-based communication technologies to the SXSW stage. Before founding Agora, he was the founding engineer and first VolP and video communications engineer at WebEx, which was acquired by Cisco in 2007. Tony then served as CTO and board director at YY.com, a major Chinese video-based social network that’s publicly traded on the NASDAQ.

“Speaking at SXSW is an amazing opportunity to share what we’re passionate about at Agora, which is making real-time communication capabilities accessible for all developers and businesses,” says Tony Zhao. “Ultimately, we want to help people and businesses around the world connect by enabling reliable, high-quality communications, regardless of the user’s device or network conditions.”

The talk, geared to developers and product owners interested in embedding audio, video, and live broadcasting functionality to existing apps and platforms, comes at a crucial time as companies across a wide range of verticals begin to incorporate live communications and real-time interactions into their products and offerings. Tony hopes that his words will inspire companies both big and small across the globe to embrace the capabilities RTC has to offer, like voice calling, live video, and interactive broadcasting.

“The future of RTC looks very bright, and we want others to benefit from the same technology that’s transforming entire industries, from social media to mobile gaming to customer service and beyond,” adds Tony.

Scheduled for Sunday, March 11th from 12:30PM to 1:30PM CDT at the JW Marriott (Salon 7), the session is is open to all SXSW badge holders. For more information on the event, click here.
