Meet Nick! Engineer in Waypath Mobile Squad

Kicking off a Meet this AgriDigitaler series, we start with Nick, one of the engineers in the Waypath for Mobile product centric team.

How long have you been at AgriDigital?

I’ve been with AgriDigital for 9 months.

Why did you choose software engineering?

I’ve always enjoyed problem solving and originally sought to fulfil that desire through Graphic Design.

The shortfall in Design was the inability to see a project or product through to the end.

I wanted to be able to build and use my solutions rather than just propose them. In this growing digital world, Software Engineering fulfils that desire.

What is 1 thing you love about working at AgriDigital?

I love working with such a diverse group of people to deliver a product that improves existing practices in our agricultural industry.

It has been constantly evolving even in the short time I’ve been involved and the potential ahead is exciting.

You recently worked on a some great mobile projects, talk about what you recently worked on

Making our mobile operate offline is hands down the most complex, challenging and fulfilling project.

We face significant challenges with internet connectivity and as so many other products increase their dependency on good connectivity, we have to go the opposite direction.

It has meant increased knowledge and understanding of our mobile app for myself, but also given me the opportunity to contribute significant foundational work for our mobile app.

What was the personal achievement you did in that role?

To have such a significant role in planning for our mobile offline first enhancements was a great personal achievement.

What is one piece of advice you could give another person looking to jump into engineering?

Be ready to take on any task.

I was two months in when suddenly I was working to make a mobile app operate offline.

The challenge might be great, but the reward and knowledge is even greater!
