Story 1: At Houston DMV (driving License) office
It was a usual summer day in Houston — under the blazing sun, it’s a hot and sultry day outside while chill and cold inside the cocoon of a well air-conditioned public building.
The setting of this story is a Houston DMV office. For the uninitiated, it is the office where you go to get your state identification card or driving license. Once upon a time, long lines would be the norm. Now, they have a token system. Like any other public service office, it was buzzing with activity. With that much of a throughput of people, life gets mechanical for all the agents behind the counter.
