When Dad Combs Daughter’s Hair
Two hands and three strands, it’s a maneuver this dad had to learn to get the braid right.
Dads have swag until they have to manage something as delicate as daughter’s hair.
My wife had to travel and I said with flourish, I will take care of things.
My daughters are older — 13 and 9 and that helps.
I planned a lot of things mentally. One key thing I missed thinking through. Braiding their hair. Never done it before. I have seen my kids occasionally flinch. Why would you want to do something that would hurt your kid — even inadvertently?
The closest — couple of years ago, one of my daughters had lost one of the hair ties while playing in the park. I removed the other hair tie (she had double braids thankfully) and gathered all her hair in one scoop, bonded them together with the other hair tie and promptly brought her home for her momma’s help.
I eventually pulled through. I thought i will document the journey.
What I figured out eventually
Puzzle 1: We have two hands but there are three partitions. So, I had to figure out how to use by fingers dexterously — one hand holds two partitions and the other makes the move.
