Jack is walking on the beach. He has blonde sticky-up hair and is carrying a backpack. He is wearing shorts — All the images are created by the author using a variety of craft skills, AI and processing tools.

The Title page for the story. We have a beach scene with many versions of Jack playing in the sand dunes. In the distance is Captain Jack and on the horizon, there is a pirate ship. Jack has found a pearl pendant.

Jack is watching pirates through his telescope. He runs to tell Captain Jack about it. He tells him they buried treasure.

Captain Jack says the treasure belongs to the mermaids. They dig up the treasure and carry it on a long walk to the cave where the mermaids live.

The mermaids watch as Jack and the Captain unload their rucksacks. When they are finished, there is a huge splash, and the mermaids are gone. The treasure has also gone. As if by magic Jack has the pearl pendant around his neck. They walk home in the sunset. They wonder if the mermaids are watching them from the sea.
