All images were created by the author in Midjourney with some additional editing.

The title image and the thrust of this article were inspired by a social media post in which the author expressed frustration and asked for help. The post highlighted a mistake that beginners often make when first creating prompts in Midjourney.

The enquirer could not get their coffee cup to tip over or lay on its side. The prompt itself was 30% composition and 70% styling info. Not surprisingly, Midjourney focused more on the styling and less on the composition. So, every cup was beautifully styled but vertical.

My first thought was to remove all the styling and see what we get. As you can see below, I had a 100% success rate with composition, but the styling was rubbish. The Mug handles were also a bit random.

My process now is to create the same prompt but add image prompts of successful mugs and handles.
