Apple’s Titan Project Came to an End
After almost 10 years in the making with 2,000 Applers working on the secret project of Titan, Apple’s EV project without a steering wheel, Apple decided to end the project and instead, focus on AI development.
As Steve Jobs used to say: The key to success is saying No. And many people who knew him used to say that he was good at saying no with a smile on his face. We can expect the word: AI to be mentioned a hundred times in the next keynote of Apple since they will focus on making Siri the next-gen GenAI.
OpenAI Faces Increasing Copyright Infringement Cases
OpenAI is currently embroiled in copyright infringement lawsuits filed by various publications such as The New York Times, Raw Story, Alternet, and The Intercept, as well as prominent American fiction writers like George R.R. Martin, Jonathan Franzen, and Michael Connelly.
During a discussion, Elon Musk said that it is a lie that AI is not built upon copyrighted material. Sam Altman, the leader of OpenAI, has alleged that The New York Times hired an expert to manipulate OpenAI’s algorithm, falsely implying copyright infringement. Publishers are now seeking compensation of up to $2,500 per infringed article.
Elon Musk just sued OpenAI today for violating the company’s principles, from being open source and non-profit to close source maximum profit.
For now, the AI training space is like the Wild West. Just like how the transition occurred from Napster to Spotify, the unstoppable progress of AI should be accompanied by a model that protects the rights of the creators.
