About ai Africa

We are entering a very interesting period for humanity.

Within the next decade, much of our day to day lives will be managed by artificial intelligence and automation. For the first time in human history, we will have freedom from the mundane. As our jobs disappear, we will look for meaning and purpose in other areas of life.

Majority of those living on earth will be in Africa. By 2050, Africa should account for more than half of the world’s population. And this population explosion has its own consequences.

*It’s vital to stir up the sleeping giant, Africa, to the new dawn.*

To prepare for the population boom and solve the present challenges, these are the key areas Africa will have to focus on:

Agriculture: Africa has to contend with adverse climate change while trying to feed an additional 1.3 billion people by 2050. There are already exciting researches on how AI and IoT can reduce waste, increase productivity and boost food production.

Education: African governments, businesses, and NGOs must work at reforming the education system to meet the demands of tomorrow’s economy. For the numerous African youths to compete favourably with their contemporaries across the world, the education system has to be massively upgraded to meet the current and future needs in the workplace and the society.

Energy: Over 630 million people in Africa live without access to electricity, while an estimated 40 billion hours a year are spent fetching water in the sub-Saharan region. Traditional utility providers are simply struggling to serve the continent’s population. These emerging technologies can help address these issues.

Healthcare: Africa is already ranked lowest in the world in healthcare services and delivery. Adoption and full scale deployment of these technologies can help raise a healthy generation.
