Every once in a while, you see some more successful writers praising some magic tool that they claim heavily contributed to their success.

They swear by it. But what if they never used those tools at all? Is it all just marketing?

I decided to find out by paying for and testing two of the top AI writing tools for SEO: Koala Writer and Agility Writer. Here’s my detailed review so you don’t have to spend your money without knowing what you’re getting into.

Anothing thing before we get into it too far: Interested in passive income that’s actually passive? Make your first dollar online following my guide here: How I made $50 by doing literally nothing. (ok — literally nothing is a bit harsh, but close to it!)

Koala Writer Vs. Agility Writer

Koala Writer

Koala Writer claims — Create high-quality SEO-optimized articles in minutes. Koala Writer, powered by GPT-4, combines SERP analysis with real-time data to create content that ranks.

Agility Writer

Agility Writer claims — AI writing tool to generate factual SEO-optimized articles for blog posts, product reviews, and roundup reviews within a few clicks.

Putting Them to the Test

Setting Up Koala Writer

First, I went over to Koala Writer and made an account — Koala Writer. I decided to purchase a fresh subscription for this test. The $9 subscription pack comes with 15,000 words (about 7 articles give or take).

Subscribe to Essentials

This is the cheapest plan. Keep in mind, this tool is best used on your niche website with a specific keyword in mind. For Amazon affiliates, Koala utilizes real-time Amazon data to ensure you optimize any affiliate links perfectly every time.

For $9, you get 15,000 words, which is great but can be used up quickly. Koala has packs that go up to millions of words once you get rolling, but I recommend starting off at the $9 tier or the $25 tier to really level up your writing.

Setting Up Agility Writer

Next, I went over to Agility Writer and took a look over my options.

Sign Up for a Trial

For Agility Writer, I started fresh for this test as well. Unfortunately, they don’t have a free trial, but they do offer a $1 trial (basically, you pay the dollar to combat fraud and misuse). For $1, you get 3 credits, enough for 3 articles. This way, you can try it out and upgrade to another plan once you see your articles and posts start to rise to the top!

Impressions of the AI Writing Tools So Far

Both services seem to have similar features:

  • Both Agility Writer and Koala Writer use more ‘credits’ or ‘words’ for more powerful features. This is to be expected, as they have to run massive amounts of data through the models to produce the final output per each of their claims.
  • Agility Writer wins on layout and UI.
  • Agility Writer has some free tools like ‘Catchy Title Generator,’ which could prove valuable on its own!
  • Koala Writer has a chat feature that you can access (for a certain number of chats per month).

Testing Out Agility Writer and Koala Writer

For testing, I ran the same optimized SEO regarding Seasonal Depression lamps for one of my niche websites. The results? Both services worked — I made around $50 in affiliate commissions the first day. About 60 percent were from the Agility Writer Post, the rest came from Koala Writer. The same products were promoted in each post. However, almost 100% of the income came from just one of the products I promoted.

The week 1 total? $175.58

Agility and Koala Writer Money Review: Was It Worth It?

In short, no.

Why? Final thoughts

While both Koala Writer and Agility Writer offer enticing claims and features, my personal experience revealed some limitations. Although they succeeded in creating SEO-optimized content quickly, the results did not surpass my self-written posts in terms of performance and engagement.

Koala Writer stands out with its real-time Amazon data integration and affordable starting packs, making it a viable option for those looking to optimize affiliate links efficiently. Its chat feature adds a layer of support that can be quite useful for new users. However, the platform’s layout could benefit from some improvements.

Agility Writer, on the other hand, impresses with its user-friendly interface and handy free tools like the ‘Catchy Title Generator’. Despite lacking a free trial, the $1 trial provides a cost-effective way to test the waters before committing to a more expensive plan.

In my test, both services managed to generate a modest income through affiliate links, but the traffic primarily came from my existing content rather than the new AI-generated posts. This suggests that while these tools can supplement your content strategy, they may not be a complete replacement for high-quality, personally crafted articles.

Ultimately, the value of these AI writing tools depends on your specific needs and goals. If you are looking for quick, SEO-optimized content to support your existing strategy, they could be worth exploring. However, for those who prioritize unique, engaging, and high-performing content, sticking with self-written posts is almost certainly the best approach for standing out.
