Stop Judging GPT

One of the most common complaints I hear about GPT is that GPT is wrong alot.

While true, it doesn’t matter if you have the right attitude.

GPT’s rate of learning is its breakthrough. It’s ability to understand and express natural language is its breakthrough. Its not the best AI ever for every task. It’s not a mystical oracle that knows all the secrets of the universe. So stop judging it when it is wrong.

Instead realize it learns really quickly. Where it is wrong today, it will be right tomorrow.

Imagine you learned as quickly as GPT did and could remember everything you learned.

That would be powerful.

Now think of the exact opposite. Remember when you were five years old. How little you knew. How wrong you were about everything!

Think of GPT as the world’s smartest five year old. Would you let a five year old drive your car? Make important financial decisions? Choose your dinner?

No, you’d let it give input and then you’d use your judgment whether to listen to the five year’s old advice.

That is the best course for GPT for now. Talk to it. Learn from it but take it with a grain salt. Stop judging it for its clumsy five year old attempts at navigating the world.

Also don’t make the mistake of thinking that GPT will never improve/grow up. Because one day GPT (or whatever replaces it), will be as smart or smarter than all of us.
