2023 Hic et Nunc! Music Festival x Shoni Gaudi:

A multi-disciplinary exhibition embracing art, music and technology

In November 2023, an interdisciplinary exhibition showcasing music, art and technology will take place at Uncommon Gallery in Seoul, South Korea. This exhibition, created in collaboration with artist Jang Seung Hyo, utilizes artificial intelligence and showcases virtual artist Shoni Gaudi. As part of the Hic et Nunc! Festival, the exhibition will also feature a mini-concert with the Sejong Soloists, a chamber ensemble, including 2019 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition winner Steven Kim and 2023 ARD International Music Competition Viola First Prize winner Lee Hye Soo.

Uncommon Gallery: A Web3 Space Embracing Music, Art, and Technology

Since 2018, AI Network has been establishing a decentralized artificial intelligence ecosystem that connects GPU computer power, AI developers and creators. In pursuit of the vision of ‘artificial intelligence for all,’ Uncommon Gallery, an offline space located in Gangnam, Seoul, was established to facilitate communication with various creators within this ecosystem. Starting with the exhibition of Baby Shark NFT by The Pinkfong Company in August 2022, numerous web3 artists have since held exhibitions at the gallery. This is part of a project to connect the online and offline worlds, to bring AI into the web3 space while simultaneously encouraging & providing a space for real-life efforts, interactions and events.

Uncommon Gallery differs from traditional galleries, which primarily serve as platforms for buying and selling artwork. Instead, Uncommon partners with Ion Studio to collaborate with exhibitions selected through AI Network DAO consensus, aiming to enhance value by working on projects that contribute to the expansion of the web3 spirit and the AI Network ecosystem.

2023 Hic et Nunc! Festival Exhibition

This exhibition will be an endeavor to narrow the gap between art and evolving technologies. col:HAUS and new media artist Jang Seung Hyo have explored various creative attempts in collaboration with AI Network, integrating technology into art through initiatives like the Prompt:shoin exhibition. Sejong Soloists have been working on the NFT Classics Society project with AI Network, exploring radical attempts to connect music and technology, such as issuing exclusive NFTs for artists. 2023 represents a pioneering effort to fuse art, music and technology.

What Technology Is Involved?

Traditionally, performances and exhibitions are often fleeting experiences. As viewers, post-performance or exhibition involvement was limited to preserving traditional paper tickets or privately jotting down thoughts in diaries. From an artist’s perspective, exhibitions were primarily conducted through third parties like agencies or galleries, making it challenging to consistently communicate with audiences & true fans.

New technology allows novel and innovative ways to develop these concepts, both for patrons and artists. NFTs in particular have impressive uses and potentials in these respects; they provide a means for artists and fans to interact directly, without the need for third party intermediaries, and all through decentralized, transparent blockchain-based platforms. They also provide a means to obtain/purchase and keep tickets in a publicly verifiable and individual way. An example of this is the NFT Classics Society previously recording and issuing AINFTs of converted sounds of a 1683 Stradivarius violin, performed by Sejong Soloists for concert attendees.

For this exhibition, VIP tickets will be sold as NFTs and can be purchased through SKT’s TopPort. In the long term, these NFTs will evolve into AINFTs combined with AI chatbots — AINFTs which will be able to interact with their owners.

This exhibition, part of the 2023 Hic et Nunc! festival, will connect art and technology, and go beyond simply tokenizing the experience of attending a performance; it will imbue it with artificial intelligence and allow it to evolve into a unique historical experience. This first step will work toward showing that web3-based AI possesses a capacity to understand humans, and can continuously validate identity in the digital realm and create a means of social interaction.

AI Network is a decentralized AI development ecosystem based on blockchain technology. Within its ecosystem, resource providers can earn $AIN tokens for their GPUs, developers can gain access to GPUs for open source AI programs, and creators can transform their AI creations into AINFTs. The ultimate goal of AI Network is to bring AI to Web3, where everyone can easily develop and utilize artificial intelligence.
