My AI Saturdays (Lagos) Journey -Week 14

As this cohort comes to an end, I am getting this bittersweet feeling. Even though I am happy that I can finally have some saturdays to watch the EPL (As a Manchester United fan, I have only seen one of our games this season), I can’t even imagine a Saturday without AI Saturdays, how will I cope?

please how?

To be honest, it is really going to be hard to adjust after this long.

After an exciting weekend at Devfest, we were back to our usual venue, Univelcity. Lawrence rounded up with the codelab session of Anomaly Detection and Recommender Systems.

George rounded up his session on Large Scale Machine Learning.

We later had a session with Akinkunle Allen on Survival Analysis.

Survival analysis is generally defined as a set of methods for analyzing data where the outcome variable is the time until the occurrence of an event of interest. The event can be death, occurrence of a disease, marriage, divorce, etc. The time to event or survival time can be measured in days, weeks, years, etc. For example, if the event of interest is heart attack, then the survival time can be the time in years until a person develops a heart attack.

Interestingly, I had read a blog about Survival Analysis the previous day and some things were not clear but the session provided sufficient clarity to my confusions. Sadly, we were unable to complete the session. We definitely need an encore!.

AI Saturdays Lagos is partnering with Deep Quest AI to host #HackExpo, a 2 - day Artificial Intelligence themed Exposition and Hackathon.
